Hi all
I've just bought a set of nearly new tyres off eBay. They are still on steel rims and taken off a new car in order to fit alloys. I collected from the sellers house and saw the car they came off. He says they have done 40 miles but I suspect they've done a bit more than that. I'm not complaining at £100 though. They are £60 each new.

The tyres are Continental and the red lines are still on them. The steel rims are also as new. I don't need the rims, I just want the tyres to fit to my daily hack Golf. Saying that, they might fit being 5 stud so I'll try that.

I've just put them in the garage and noticed an indentation on the outer side walls on all four tyres. There is another indentation on the inner sidewall in exactly the same spot. There is no damage to the rims so it's not been kerbed. All 4 have the same and I can't say I've ever noticed this before. I used to work in a tyre bay but that was 20 years ago.

The best way to describe it is as though they have a large invisible belt around them compressing them.

Is this normal?

Sounds like someone has had them hanging from the ceiling

I have no idea if the sidewalks will resume their original shape though......

I've just googled it and it's perfectly normal apparently.
