BM54 with DSP, Location?

My new to me '02 FFRR has the non touch screen MID, cd player and cd changer, along with DSP.

I'd really like to fit an Ipod lead, so been reading about the BM54 modification. Went to find the amp and all I can find is the DSP amp in the boot l/h side.

Could it not have a BM54 amp fitted?

Am I missing something? The whole audio system works fine (not checked the multichanger though!)

Your radio is up the front with the MID.

This will mean dash top off to get at the cabling for connecting up ipod lead.

Alternative is to get at the CD changer connector, take the CD changer out of action and connect up there.

Others may have more to say, but you do not have a BM54 in the boot Thumbs Up .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I am wanting of the iPod connection too! I have a vogue, but I like the cd changer too. Has anyone yet interrogated the tape output channels, then, I hope I can still select tape, and play my iPod, and, maybe it will auto-mute with the nav??? I have the iPod through a tape (cassette type) adaptor, with wire hanging all over, but it's not very sharp detail sounding.
I don't mind taking dash top off again, as long as I know it's worth it. I was going to desolder the pink tape head cable and add a lead to that. I looked inside a few tape players, they all have this pink and white stereo cable leading to the cicuit boards....

There will need to be a tape in the player for tape to be selectable as a source I believe.

As to the original question, you can have DSP without the screen and sat nav setup. Not seen this myself, but I would imagine you'd add an iPod lead to the front somewhere and it will feed to the speakers via the dsp. How many speakers do you have in the car ?

It seems the Bm54 is only fitted with the screen and Nav to handle the extra sources......

Ive had a Parrot MKi9200 fitted into mine, works off SD card, ipod, iphone, aux cable, USB, streams off bluetooth, and you can connect 2 phones at the same time, with this method, you get to keep the CD player too, and i have to say, the music quality is excellent.

I have the parrot too, the problem is, is I forget to look at the nav, and I go way past the junction I need. So I really need the nav to work in automute. It does sound good, though mine has stopped working a couple months back, and haven't had a look to see what it is yet. I'm toying witht the rip out and android new unit, or an iPod in which I will probably substitute with a small 7inch tablet, that I can see whilst driving, so I don't squint at the 'pod.

if you get the 9200 its a wireless button device. you have to change the button cell every couple of months.... and you can misplace the button device...if you get the dangly wire type, its works all the time. (i think)
