RR Vogue/SE TDV8 vs RR Sport TDV8 HSE

I sold my previous FFRR a while back and regret it so am beginning the hunt for another one but I can't decide which to go for this time, the interior of a 2007 one will be different to my old one(05) do they drive much differently?.
I'm wondering about the differences between the FF and Sport really, does the Sport handle that much better?.
Budget is £16k-£17k max and want something with 80k or less on the clock, both seem nearly identical price wise just can't decide if I'm better sticking to what I know or trying the Sport, the main trouble is finding a nice unmolested example without 22" alloys, chrome, even not that keen on privacy glass to be honest!!.

Can't answer your questions as this is down to personal preference but...

Not driven a sport but if it is anything like the disco, which it is, then yes it is a more involving drive, but it's all relative it's like saying an intercity train is a more sporty train.... They are both 2.7 tonne 4wd cars, and neither is exactly a sports car. Best thing is to test drive both many times and see which you prefer, it is your car after all. There are notable problems with turbos on both, though these seem to be fairly rare, they do seem more prevalent on the sport.

There are a few nice cars out there at the moment and the one above looks like a decent example, but at 16-17k you should get a decent ffrr with under 80k.👍 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I had 2 RR Sports (a 56 plate 3.6 and an 08 plate 2.7) and now have a 3.6 TDV8 Vogue SE.

To my mind there is no comparison - the Vogue is a much nicer place to be, and I think has a timeless class to it which the Sport just doesn't have.

Perhaps the Sports handled slightly better, but to be honest, I just don't think that is what I was buying this sort of car for.

If you are going to go to the expense of running a 3.6 Sport, not sure why you wouldn't just have a Vogue Thumbs Up

I bought my Vogue from Gary Elliott (site sponsor and well trusted on the forum) - he has this one at the moment that seems to fit your requirements...

Im not really looking for sportscar performance, I wouldn't expect it, plus I have a Bike for fun, I don't see the point in a quick car in the SE anymore, nowhere really to use it.
That said I found my previous TD6 underpowered and the 4.4 V8 just about right but I don't want the hassle of having LPG this time and want the facelift so a TDV8 seems the obvious choice.
How common are turbo failures/issues on the TDV8?.

The only thing swaying me towards the Sport is the better road manners but then the Vogue has a nicer interior.
I should mention I did off road my others and my next one will get used off road too, not sure which is better there but as the Sport is based on the D3 I can't seeit being bad in that department.

Thanks for the link to the Gary Eliot one, I have seen that on Autotrader, it looks absolutely perfect except for one thing- wrong colour.
Grey is my ideal colour, would have another black one at a push if it was a really great car.

Comparing a Sport TDV8 HSE to an L322 Vogue SE TDV8 really is no comparison IMO. The Sport will not roll as much but the ride is slightly firmer. The cabin sets things far apart - the Sport is way to plasticy for the class.

Try both but I would choose the VSE every time. The L322 is fantastic off road, even with road tyres.

I know what you mean about the off road ability, my TD6 on road tyres went everywhere a lifted Classic with off road tyres went and it didn't get stuck once, got a bit worried when it was leaned over a few times though!!.

There's a fair few members on here who used to have a sport - are there many members of RRS forum who used to have a FF?

ibb1, I have had a 322 for years and bought a TDV8 Sport last year. Had it for 6 months and it took 5 months to sell. IMHO its a designer car, no end of problems too small for me inside and not as relaxing as the 322. In fact each morning I would jump in the TD6 rather than the Sport, thats how much I disliked it. Each to his own though Thumbs Up

Thanks Rosco, (and CEEGEE actually too- sorry I didn't thank you earlier)

As you've driven both I value your input, I'm going to test drive a Sport next week, I have driven one ages ago but I don't remember it that well, one thing that does come to mind is the leather isn't as nice.

At the moment I'm leaning towards another FF-better the devil you know!!, there's a decent amount of choice too.

Ive killed 2 sports so know what they are like... Also more owners report issues with the 3.6TDV8 engine than FF users.
I still think this is 50% driving style in them and 50% less room around the engine for cooling.

the FF is a much nicer place to be IMO and why i got it Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

And you have a Merc as well now don't you Mick 😝😝

The last Ssrr I drove with that engine in lasted about a week and had only a few thousand miles on it.. First car including rentals I've had that's munched an engine so quickly. LRa just said drive it to the dealer the next day so i did... Needless to the unit was scrapped when it finally got to a dealer... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
