I have recently purchased a 2003 Range Rover 4.4 V8 with 103k miles. I notice the dash display read out for odometer and other trip computer readings has some missing pixels. I've heard this is a common problem and is related to a ribbon cable?

Any advice on how to go about repairing this?

OK thanks for the link. Looks like a lot of trouble and sometimes the fix isn't successful from reading some other posts. It's the labour cost that is expensive, the actual replacement component seems nice and cheap but a 2-4 hour job.

Give these a call, they're in Portsmouth and for £160 they will remove it, repair it and re-fit it, thats where mines going after Christmas

They seem very reasonable. I spoke to them and got this info in an email (if you can, let us know how it goes);

i had the dash off to replace the head unit so i done the pixles at the same time, very scary drilling blind holes into the clocks to acsess the hiden torx screws
