Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black

I suppose given the mass volume these cars are made in, the lease and finance packages, keep the ship afloat and buoy the economy too!

Hopefully not too many Captains of these vessels run aground!

The monthlies are tempting deals but surely there is some big balloon or deposit upfront first as well?! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Yep, looked at trading in against something newer, another l322, but the principle is the same, and it was basically give them my car pay about £350 a month for 3 years then give them a pile of cash at the end..... As I normally buy cars with cash this just seemed a trifle greedy on their part/stupid from my part. So I didn't bother!

I will work some more then when there is enough spare money Rolling Eyes I shall buy another ffrr.... I'm not old but do believe in the adage "if you can't afford it, don't buy it!" At the moment I can't afford it so it stayed on the forecourt! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

When we bought our AB we did a deal over the phone with the salesman in Yeovil. He did a cracking deal and sent us an order form by fax to sign and send back to him.

The following day he called to ask for details to run the finance through. We told him there and then that there was to be no finance and the car would be paid for outright before we collected it. His response was "99% of the vehicles we sell are on finance, I'm not used to someone paying for them in full". He then joked that if he'd known we were paying it off then we wouldn't of got the deal we did as he wasn't making anything out of the finance.

I've got friends who buy cars on finance every 3 years, and get rid of them when the warranty runs out. When we bought the SC he asked why we'd bought an older car rather then leasing a new one. The deal he has on his Astra VXR at the moment will see him loose most of what we paid for the SC on his residual value! It's scary Shocked

We did go through a phase of leasing a new LR every 3 years when the interest rates were better. When we got rid of the Discovery's and bought the first FF we paid it off as it seemed stupid to be paying more interest on something than your money was accruing in the bank. When we bought the Freelander it was a similar thing, some dealers were offering 12 months interest free credit which as long as there's no fees to set up or pay off isn't a bad thing, unfortunately all of the cars that had this option at the time were a bit scruffy and had done higher mileage. We ended up buying ours from Guy Salmon though as they had the car we wanted and even in the <£20k price range we were told again that rarely anybody pays cars off.

For some, paying a stiff deposit and x number of high monthly payments is one thing but the final payment part always seems ridiculous to me on the basis that if someone can't afford to deal with that amount up front or during the monthly repayment period, the likelihood of them finding that sizeable final payment tends to suggest that the car will be getting handed back with nowt to show for several years of handing over what some might call 'silly money'.

The RRS clientele is completly different from the L405 one, just as the previous RRS and L322 are.

You'll find +95% of owners did not consider the other model. This is how LR is smart about producing 2 vehicles with completly different class and appeal even though they are similar under the skin. Good for them.

I've NEVER ever considered a RRS or 494, have you? l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Occasionally I did do, hence why i got the invite down to gaydon before its big launch event to poke at it and at digital city as well.

I just cant get round the seats long term, they are far too sporty for me. I'm probably an old fart at heart!

I guess LR have learned a lesson from Mini and are controlling stockflow to a certain extent, what is it 6-12months waiting list now? They could crank them out faster but then why bother? They would make more money short term but then be stuck with a possible over supply problem, factory/s that aren't working at capacity when they drop in volumes produced to meet demand...

To me i'd rather plonk a few K more in at those prices and get the big boy as the extra 2 seats are IMO useless.

It has its own market segment and that isn't the segment thats catered for on this forum Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I wonder even at the entry price of them some people (granted perhaps not 'enthusiasts') will opt for the RRS over the L405 to save a few thousand pounds. Have also seen posts on this forum about people exploring 405 options and some considerations posted seems to indicate a preference to save a thousand or two even at that end of the market, which is fair enough (better in your pocket than theirs, pennies make pounds, the word budget doesn't mean struggling and a budget is a budget etc).

My point would be, at that end of the market the monthlies and such are near enough the same. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
