limp wing mirror

Passenger side wing mirror is, well, limp (only word i could think of). It sometimes closes in when the button is pressed, but not always (not a problem as hardly ever use that feature). But whenever anyone closes the passenger door, the mirror close in against the car, very frustrating.

Is this a common fault, and what fix is needed?
