Message Centre not working - L322 TDV8

Just had my 2008 TdV8 serviced by an independent. When turning ignition key to position 2 (pre ignition) the Message Centre works and I can toggle through the display using the Trip Computer Selector (the left hand stalk). Once I turn to crank the engine and the engine is running the Message Centre is blank with the exception of the gear selected showing. Pushing the selector button on the stalk does nothing. Can't even get the time, outside temperature etc…

When I took the RR back in, the garage plugged the diagnostic tool in and a fault came up saying something like "lost contact with the function selector". The garage 'cleared' the fault, we turned off and then back on and all was fine for that journey.

Next journey, problem back again.

RR's done 35,000 and no previous faults.

Cheers

England 2013 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Mariana Black

Welcome to forum .

As with most things FF, the first thought usually turns to the battery. Follow the battery disconnect and reconnect procedure in the Wiki ( see top of home page right hand side) this seems to sort most issues.

Worth checking the voltage to the battery too, as the alternators can be troublesome. You should be getting 14.3v + going into the battery when on tickover.

If you intend on a long term relationship with your FF...get a diagnostics tool. The GAP diagnostics IID tool is very user friendly, cost effective and is well regarded by many members.

Problem fixed.
Disconnected battery. Waited 20 mins. Reconnected battery and all works as before.
