My '02 wasn't that bad when I cleaned it up, wire brushed, rust killed and hammerited in the summer, but the original paint was coming off in most places. .

It just really surprised me, as the rest of the underside is mint. |

The later the cars the worse the rust issues imho... I think Ford must have changed steel suppliers or their dipping process as all 07my> (interior facelift models) rust much quicker than the BMW built earlier cars... |

We'll I've cleaned as much as the underside as I can reasonably get to in order to give it a fighting chance for the future. |

Wire brushed and painted my sub frame this summer, surface rust really. |
