United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Rimini Red
L322 or D3

Might be a difficult one this Question so please bear with
Had an 03 Vogue for five years (07-12) covering almost 80k miles and to say I loved it is an understatement Very Happy but finally sold as the petrol was getting expensive due to a lot of travelling. We did lots in it from lugging rubble from a refurb to trips into Europe it never failed to bring a smile every time I drove it long or short distances, do I need to say anymore.
Made a move to the dark side an x5 and hatted it despite trying to love it, sold and due to financial commitments bought an 04 D3 with 100k and was suitably impressed, glorious to drive and very capable, after 18m decided it was time to go back to my Vogue, 08 Black with sand this time, ivory was my preferred but this one came up.
Here is the problem, same squeaky slightly bouncy seats, I thought LR updated these, compared to the D3 positively dated, first disappointment. Ride of the newer RR is still so archaic compared to the D3 even with a third of its miles, ride is jary over bump roads, D3 took these in its stride. Cornering in the Vogue seems to have not improved, D3 was very capable and sure footed. What has gone wrong Big Cry , was this a case of rose tinted specs Crying or Very sad .
On the motorway it's positively beautiful with lots more torque and sits majestically but slow down take the back roads and it's design age seems to show not to mention the two of us in the front seats bobbing about seeing who squeaks the most.
I am I being unfair. Sterling is lovely and light, shift is smooth, cabin looks good, get out shut the door and there is that 15-20 year old mechanical clunk not the precise 'thunk' of (no not a golf) a modern car. The tail gate again so mechanical and dated in its close.
HELP, does it need to grow on me.

That it may however it was LR dealer purchased with LR warranty, really had expected a car that was not only better than my 03 but certainly better than my high miler old D3.
Is that the problem, we all expect nowadays Crying or Very sad

Sorry didn't make that very clear... I own (or did until very recently) both a 2004 D3 & a 2007 FF and i would never want just the D3 over the FFRR... Owned them both side by side and used the D3 for everyday car & the FFRR for nice use... Loved them both but in entirely different ways, the D3 as it was very utilitarian so i was not so OCD about it... The FFRR was just class, in every way better than the D3! Apart from filling it with luggage! Shocked Thumbs Up

Suspension parts might need to be replaced. The FFRR should drive very nicely.

Yes might be, read that set up was the same as the discovery hence similar terrain switch etc so again expected better and quieter. Even cabin noise from the tdv8 is up from the tdv6.
Will book into dealer that I have known and used for 9 years next week for a full appraisal. Also agreed with the LR dealer I bought from that they will pay for seat repair and valet as it was not repaired, they missed it or fully cleaned on collection, reason was problems with their valet company.

Certainly something not right.

A 2.7 TDV6 Discovery is considerably noisier and generally less refined. Ride is quite a bit firmer and certainly not as comfortable, but body roll is noticeably less (even compared to the Adaptive Dynamics cars).

Get an HPI done on it, must have been a write off or had some serious abuse if you think a D3 is better...

Mines 12 years old and has had a hard life and is much better than a D3.... Pete

Thought the Range Rover received the Range Rover Sport / LR3's Terrain Response system as well as the redesigned four-wheel drive control panel although appreciate the rest is possibly the original BMW design from 2002, from this assumed ride would be a massive leap from the old BMW system.

The car was HPI'd from the Main Dealer so should be fine, looking to get my local Dealer to look at.

Washed and dried car today only to find the wheels were not refurbished as agreed, only 'face sprayed', there were no TPM valves fitted to the wheels, after being told they were fine and working and the passenger door window, mirror and door lock do not work. There is over spray on the door shut from the door leather panel refurb. Concerned about door lock etc, sure it worked when we collected.

Other than the above lots of pull from the engine and it does look so stunning.

Just a quick thought... What tyres are on her? Are they worn at all? If so, are the edges wearing? They do drive a lot differently with the tracking/geometry out and fighting with tyres that are worn... Thumbs Up

I don't know. When you start to see a few things that aren't sorted on a car, I get suspicious about what else isn't sorted that I've missed or can't see. It pays to get a good'un.
