FFRR rare in Germany?
err - not really. Depends where you go.

generally speaking:
we drive on the wrong side - pretty much like the french
we drive fast - not like the french
we have more BMW and AUDI idiots on the motorway, behaving like typical idiots. (more Renault in France...)
generally speaking: only really makes sense if the bride is worth the trip.

You probably should take the bride elsewhere BEFORE the wedding... Rolling with laughter

a L322 is short on the rear seat room- better take a L405 in LWB version?

it all depends where you have to go. A flight might just be more convenient.
german motorways tend to be cramped around the big city spots.
But thats probably the same all over Europe.

FFs are not exactly rare over here. I tend to see plenty.

Where in Germany?

I used to do Faversham Kent to Munich in around 10 hours including the ferry crossing, mostly at night. Some of the Autobahn that I used now have speed limits so perhaps it will take longer if you keep to limits.

Well I'd do it, any excuse for a decent trip in an FF, maybe make it a forum event and get a procession of FF's for the big day...??? Pete

Thanks Gents... Just checking as to weather any members had done such a thing and come across any legal (or other) problems with the German or UK law/police etc etc etc

Find out an hour before its illegal to put flowers on a non D registered car in Germany or something daft...

Thumbs Up

The french require you to have a breath test kit now, and a spare set of bulbs.

Last time we drove through Germany (en route to Cyprus) we disembarked from the train at about 1230, stopped for nearly an hour for lunch, stuck in the usual Lille traffic jam but we're eating dinner by 1830 the other side of Frankfurt at the hotel.

I would happily plan to arrive at a planned time on a continental trip...so much easier than driving here.

Just google for the latest bureaucatic nonsense and watch out the French police".......At least the German ones are consistent with their enforcement.

We used our old TDV8 VSE as a wedding car in 2009 when my big sister got married:

And I used the SC when friends got married a couple of weeks ago:

Never had any problems with the ribbons or flowers in the back, both times it's been about 25 miles along the motorway with the cars decorated and we've never had any problems. Thumbs Up Never done it outside of the UK though.

Breath test equipment is not required in France, yellow security vest, and bulbs are. Would flying over and renting a RR be more comfortable?

Craig... Remember that the typical 'English tradition' while the bridge and groom dance the night away with guests, the best man and his drunken ushers, are busy decorating the wedding car with shaving foam, balloons/condoms, soup cans on strings, and the old 'bottle tops in the hubcaps' , and a frozen kipper wired to the exhaust manifold. type pranks,
Maybe the Germans' just use rotten bratwurst, soiled lederhosen, and loads of shaken beer froth, to decorate the car.
I've seen some of their 'water sports videos' too.
So, just know what your getting into beforehand. It's a long drive home!
