December build 3.0 diesel ordered. Should I switch to 4.4?

As the title says really! It will mainly be my wife using the car. We've got a Mercedes ML500 5.5 at the moment and the reason why I bought the 3.0 FFRR is because the power (388ps) the ML has is pointless, as it's not a particularly pleasant thing to drive fast. When I got an ML 350 diesel courtesy car, I realised that was the right engine for that particular car. I guess I'm just getting the pre delivery, buyers remorse, jitters! I haven't driven either. The lower repayment and BIK figure for the 3.0 would be nice. My local dealer sales team ignored me when I popped in and when someone called me back after I entered my details on the website, I asked for some repayment figures and never heard from them again, so I've bought from a broker, a car I've never sat in, in a colour I've never seen (Montalcino Red). Exciting times! Smile

P.S. I know I am the only one that can really answer this question! The best approach is probably to stick with what I've ordered and NEVER set foot in a larger engined variant! Laughing

Is that based on you having driven both?

Ive had a 4.4 AB on loan for a week and had a customers 3.0 VSE for 3 days and used it as if it were mine (everyday use to track down an intermittent noise) Land Rover could not find Rolling Eyes

& imho i prefer the lighter quieter 3.0 Thumbs Up

I'd read some stuff about excessive body roll, due to the less sophisticated suspension set up of the 3.0, but I feel suitably reassured now. Smile

Plenty of owners on here will tell you that exact thing sir. But, as you said your ML was not comfortable when pushed... Neither imho is the 405...

I actually think when pushed hard the 4.4 washes out due to the extra weight over the front axle...

It's 100kg extra per cylinder for the V8. Shocked

I love my 3.0. I moved from a 4.4 petrol V8 L322 to my first diesel, with some trepidation. No regrets. Both lovely, but the 3.0 is lighter, faster, and all I need, no hesitation in recommending. No reason not to find a colour scheme you love, given the wide range of options, and the Montalcino Red is lovely. Mine (Aintree Green) still gets admiring comments after a year. Norman

Norman, I think Slippery is talking about the 434 diesel. There's no current 4.4 petrol.

Eh? Yes: I have a 3.0 diesel. I moved from a 4.4 petrol (see signature line). He's interested in knowing what the 3.0 diesel is like. Norman
