Noisy air compressor in boot..

the air compressor in my boot seems really noisy and can be heard over the radio when I start the car. I'm sure the one on my old sc was really quiet, is this a sign that a new one is needed and on its last legs? I did check to make sure it's bolted down ok which it is and it seems to work fine and hold pressure just is noisy.

Time for an inspection, methinks. Either the motor or the compressor piston/crank.

I think I won't bother messing about and just order a new one as whenever I take something apart and put it back together I end up with lots of bits leftover Big Cry
