i just push the button in the centre of the dashboard if i want to lock the doors which is very very seldom coz if you were in a serious road accident the fire service might not be able to get the doors open .................... ====================================

On the Sport you have a few settings that you can adjust via the instrument display, however this is not the case with the FFRR.

I had mine activated by the dealer but rather strangely it won't unlock when I stop and tern off,so I either have to pull the handle twice or hit the button,is this normal? They also turned off my lazy lock and unlock and I've not found a excuse to return and fix it. 2008 MY Supercharged

LR couldn't find the setting on Testbook when I asked for it to be setup on mine. I will ask them to try again as i do find it useful (I lock it "manually" at the moment).

Yes, no auto unlocking. The Sport does though..... It's interesting that the doors won't unlock automatically, I'm actually a Crew Commander in the fire and rescue service and we are trained that in the event of a collision central locking will automatically unlock, the reason we so readily pop off doors is that the car has deformed so much it jams the door. Not that is what happens always in real life, a soft rubber ball holding a door handle open will deactivate the dead locks though. On a similar note air bags stay armed for at least 20 minutes after the power is cut off, something to think about if you plan to fiddle around a bit near one

It's funny you should mention this today because I was only reading my Owners Manual a few hours ago looking at the Battery Specification section when I read that you can't replace the battery as a DIY job because of this Pyrotechnic device fitted to the positive terminal that breaks the connection in event of a crash.

An independent RR Specialist recommended they fit my battery and i assumed he was just trying to generate some extra money by fitting it. I let them do it and i happened to watch and it was an awkward task as the battery is heavy and cumbersome and you have to fit it in the gap once you have folded back the bonnet. The guy stood on the tyre as car was in my drive and i was glad it was him and not me. At the time i thought i would probally have dropped it on the wing or scratched / damaged something and felt it was money well spent but maybe it was because it wasnt recommended as a diy due to this connection issue. Anyway the bottom line is some jobs are a diy and some are not and i like to let the pro's do what they do whenever possible as long as it isnt ripping me off. |

my local tyre depot fits batteries for free as long as you buy from him - and he is cheap as well. Not worth the bother or risk diy'ing. If you are adament that you want to fit yourself, the depot on my wifes car (not a RR)used a set of small jump leads from a donor battery to the car terminal leads to maintain power to the vehjicle and ensure all settings are retained whilst the new battery was being fitted. |
