Conversions

I have a l322 4.4 2002 does anyone know if it is possible to fit an engine from the BMW x5 same year but a 4.6

I'm no expert but I think it's been asked here before, so it's worth a search.

I seem to remember the actual engine block is fine, but many of the attached bits are different (oil sump being one). If your current engine has a single point failure and you can take EVERYTHING off it and put it on the new engine, you may get away with it. That only makes sense if all the removable bits are in tip top condition. (And please check as I might not be remembering correctly.)
