S/c pulley upgrade/ remap resale????

Firstly Stan sorry if I am in the wrong place with this but I am looking for opinions
What do people think re if I do the performance upgrades - remap pulley etc will it make it easier or more difficult to sell in say a years time ????

Sandy, depends if you tell them its been done, not sure how the insurance works on remaps etc. I cant see how it would make a difference to a prospective purchaser of an SC, they want power and have a little more with no reliability issues if I am correct on the SC. I remapped a TDV8 and was reticent to bring it up as remapped diesels have a reliability issue IMHO, probably not helped but my tuppence worth Thumbs Up

Edit. PS, I did everything by the book with insurance etc Rolling with laughter

If I was in the market for an S/C and wanted it "tuned " I would probably find a good unmolested one hoping it had had a stress free life before I took more out of the engine and gear box, If I did't want one with the work I would run a mile from one that had ,
and it would be very unlikely to increase the value of the car by the cost of the modifications .
So the way I see it it would be a lose each way , you would do the work only if you wanted to drive the car not sell it . This is just my opinion of course . 2008 MY Supercharged

@Sandyt: depends who you sell it to - if you px it, dealer won't give you anything more, same as with optional extras on a car. As a private buyer I would consider paying a bit more if the pulley/remap was done, car is well-maintained still in good condition.

I am doing exactly what you are considering - new pulley is going on tomorrow - remap will most probably have to wait a bit as we are also doing renovations at our house and that is now priority.

will probably do remap either late December or early January and keep car for another year or so - new business venture is calling and have to pump money into that before I can buy another (newer) car.

I would say that if you want to do it then "Just do it", enjoy it and if you get the money spent on the pulley/remap back, consider that as a bonus.

Morning all not really bothered about getting money back - suppose I could do the upgrade and run it for a year then take it off to sell ??
Watching the price of 5.0 and they are nearly where I would want them - I do 26 to 30k a year so like to buy reasonable well depreciated - paid 14.5 k for the one I have last november with 80k miles and landrover warranty - which by the way was brilliant new gearbox new horn and new fbh
So am looking at maybe spring next year reckon they will be twenty is

@Eugene - totally agree that the 5.0SC is a nice car - would love to have one. Can still give myself for not buying the 2011 that I could get for a good R460k (GBP23k) - currently nothing (2011) in the market for under R600k.

But as I said in previous post, new business venture now takes precedence over car.

Hi vnitos, I understand, SA is not a great place for FFRRs because there aren't that many around. I hate countries with high import tax on cars.

Hope the business venture takes of quickly so you can get a nice 5.0 Smile Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
