Ah. Reminds me of my days as an Engineer with British Telecom,

The remedy is always a hammer.
In the hands of an "Engineer" - just keep hitting until it is fixed or properly broken beyond repair then replace.
In the hands of a "Technician" - hit in the right place with just the right force to fix it, if that doesn't work get an engineer in  Geoff

I believe the first part of fault diagnoses is to determine the type of fault.

If hitting it with said hammer doesn't fix it then at least you know you have an electrical fault

I belive that you have got your tools name wrong , I don't have hammers in my toolbox, I've got a knockometer for the fine stuff and a klumpometer if it's a bigger problem  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
