The only unit that is missing is the DSP, which gets called an amp, but isn't. It only contains crossovers for the speakers and sound signal processing. The amps for the speakers are in the BM54 radio module. The speaker outs are on the plug on your diagram. If the DSP is present, it identifies itself on the iBus and appears on the screen as an option. It feeds the many speaker channels on the high line system. The radio module feeds it the signals from the selected source.

Hiya bud, well you learn a new thing every day! So the Amp isn't, it's an equaliser / crossover, and the power amp bit comes from the radio (bm54) head, talk about confusing. Do you think that the descriptions were written in English, translated in to Chinese, then into French before being translated back into English ? It's techno Chinese whispers

Yea, the power amp IC's are in the BM54, which also houses the radio circuits.

I can tell you that all the BM54s floating about are the same. The differing part numbers just change as the firmware installed is updated at manufacture.

Ah, here you go, you need the mk4 nav if you want to see the titles of the mp3s on the screen.

Thank you Mjdronfield. Actually, I'm in the lucky position to buy a genuine BMW CD/MP3 changer for 70£... so I think I'm gonna give it a go. http://www.ebay.it/itm/251718616770?ssPage...Track=true BTW, are we sure that the third module in my boot is the analog TV tuner? |

Yil000022 is the analogue tv unit, with the White and blue connectors and the 2 connectors for the tv aerials.

Understood... today, when I removed the BM 54, I thought "such a small size for a cheeky little b d that causes so much trouble"...

The cd itself looks good, but you will need to check that the connector matches the connector in the car, as I can't see a picture of it in the ebay advert.

Yes I saw that, but I understand some have round pins and some have flat. That is the extent of my knowledge I'm afraid. I don't know when each were used. Can't really see the pins in the advert..... Can you ?

Ignore me, I am talking rubbish. It should be fine. The differing pins are at the radio end, and are for the older models, of which ours are not.
