headphones on chaps, for some engine porn!

found a newer clip of the much loved BRM H16, in the close proximity of a decent microphone, thankfully it doesn't have an idle adjustment, so, you have to
'rev the tlts off it'
an amazing engine, and only 1500 cc
[/b]

you can just imagine the guys in the team paddock, playing paper/rock/scissors, to see who gets in the car....

Hate to say this, but that's very obviously the later V16!

Here's the H16.

Both very stupid engines. No real benefit from having all those cylinders and they were very heavy and complex. Also, they were fitted with a completely inappropriate Rolls Royce supercharger. Fine for an aeroplane but horrible for a car. I'm not sure they ever delivered the power they promised - certainly not for any length of time.

Sound great though. Thumbs Up

Mercedes were much more successful with half as many cyclinders.

I remember once going to see some motor racing at Oulton Park in Cheshire and the BRM H-16 was racing, I think it might have been at the Gold Cup meeting in 1969.

Ooh, I've got it the wrong way round. The V16 was earlier and had the centrafugal supercharger. The H16 was later and was normally aspirated.
