FBH again! Which Battery?

I've recently bought my Range Rover but this morning I tried to start the FBH with the remote. But when I press ther on button the light flashes very quickly but doesnt start the heater. I tried it again when I was next to the car and still the light flashes very quickly on the remote but doesnt fire the FBH.
I've had a search on here but I didnt find anything, what could be wrong? Could it be easy like just replacing the remote battery?
I'll get a battery later but though I'd ask to see if I need to be looking else where Thumbs Up

EDIT> Changed the battery in the fob for the one stated in the handbook on page 103, being CR1/3N.
I put the new one in but it wouldnt light the fob light. Put the old one back in and it lit the fob light.
Looking at the original battery that was in the fob when I got the car and it has DL1/3N stamped in it.
Now which battery do I need?

Hi, I initially had this with mine replaced battery and fob then flashed 8 but at a slower rate and still no FBH start up , have you set it up on the screen timer just to see if the burner fires up? At least you will then have narrowed it down somewhat ..

We have swapped out the Webasto control box in rear wing / ariel receiver by fuel filler cap / remote fob / and still no heat , just blows cold air if set up on the timer ,have an auto electrician/ fault finder guy booked for Friday so will let you know if anything changes Thumbs Up

Let me know if you sort it in the meantime ( there is a section in wiki that may explain/help)

Just set timer but it didn't fire. I'm sure it was on this morning when I came to work, when I switched off the engine and got out I could hear it running. And could smell the normal smell that they give off. I've had a D3. Just thinking I wonder if it's the fuse. Where would I find that?

Well before 2pm this afternoon I set it to start at 2pm. I came out about 2.15 but I couldn't hear anything. There wasn't any smell of fumes, looked on the screen inside and it showed nothing. Not that I expected anything.
So opened up car and reset it to come on about 2.30pm. Locked up and left it, came out after 2.30 and there was nowt on.
In fact after checking the car I didn't un lock it I just left it, but when I returned inside the alarm fired off for no apparent reason. Rolling Eyes

Looking in the manual just now, it appears the aux heater fuse is in the rear of the car fuse 16 rated 5A.
Going to check that after tea, hopefully its just that but I bet it ain't. Crying or Very sad
Will let you know.

Also I tried to get a replacement battery for the fob but local car shop didn't have one. Its a large battery for the fob, meaning in size. 3V tho.

Well fuse is ok. Checked other fuses whilst in there and they all ok.
PAH.
How come the remote fob light flashes quite quickly? Is that saying it isn't in range??

I've now set timer to come on early in the morning. May not wanted to come on this afternoon as it may have been too warm. Air temp not car temp. I'll let you know if it works tomorrow Thumbs Up

HHHMMMM, we did have a fair bit of sun today. Not sure about temp tho. I'll see if it works in the morning. It says it is going to be cold tonight. I had Pete's FBH GSM remote on my D3. A quick text/ring and it fired up. Had a few settings that you could change.

Lad,
The batteries are the same type, it's just different codes used by different manufacturers.

The DLI/3N, CRI/3N and 2L76 are all the same, Duracell simply call the battery I/3N to avoid too much confusion.
What make is the new battery you've got? I'd personally recommend getting the Duracell as they seem to be the most reliable.

It was just one from maplin, thought I'd try it to see and if it worked, and if it did I'd get a duracell. The battery from maplin has a blue sleeve around it and I thought it was stopping the battery contacting the brass strip seen within the fob, I pulled the brass contact up a little and I'm sure its touching it but you can't see if it is, doesn't help the light not coming on either. Rolling Eyes

Might also be worthwhile trying the fob pairing procedure when you put the new duracell battery in, if the fob battery has died it may need repairing to the remote.
