Aha! A good old water leak, can't comment on the block leak diagnosis, but without seeing car, and hearing/seeing car run, I can't really comment.....
Good news so far. Your wallet could have been a lot more battered, and you might STILL have had a water leak! It's possible, that your main water leak compromised the engine heat-wise, and this became a secondary leak, showing slowly on the block fluid test, mentioned earlier. But maybe, the secondary leak is now ok, with the product, and the main leak is fixed. so, a bit of bonnet lifting for the next few weeks, check and check again, and you are released from your woes!
