Hi, need help diagnosing fault polease,
exiting roundabout a few minutes ago, lost power, engine revved ok, but no real power.
display showed "Engine System Fault" after a few minutes, thankfully home was only 500 m away.

IDtool shows code P010c -21 (2c).
Nothing revealed in a search of this forum, but the code could relate to MAF according to google.
Any ideas of what I need to do?

thanks, but have both off and no sign of a split anywhere. I have squeezed them to make sure there isn't a hidden one.

Check the bottom turbo hoses as well as the short ones near the turbos.

Don't often go but might have popped. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks - nothing I can see is obviously wrong.

Have just driven it again to see if anything I had done had cleared it, but still same, plus I notice an unusual noise near side engine. Odd intermittent whirring - very hard to describe.

I will call recovery in the morning and get it take to the dealers.

Update: Problem was seized passenger side turbo.

Unfortunately this was within the 90 days W&T exclusion of Warranty Direct and they maintain it is wear and tear - within the 90 days by 3 days..... 90 days is 90 days unfortunately. (makes the warranty not a 12 month warranty in reality as everything will likely be w&t). Previous warranty was by Warranty Wise and they possibly would have paid out...

I had followed all the advice here, frequent oil and filter changes, drain oil via drain plugs not by vacuum lift.
In addition, I always idled for 30 secs before switch off, regularly use Redex or Forte diesel treatment, had both EGRs replaced at first sign of error. (The EGRs would not have been covered by Warranty Direct as they do not cover failures due to carbon build up)

I believe (as does the mechanic) I could not have done more maintenance to prevent the failure. Unlike other turbo failures I read about, this happened at 9 miles into a journey, 3,200 miles after the EGR replacement. Thankfully the engine did not suffer damage.

Now I have the pleasure of waiting for the drivers side turbo to fail - only a matter of time.....
Wonder if Warranty Direct will pay for that one??

Thanks - cost was just under 2.5k, apparently other side is less labour, but higher part cost - so will be about the same.

Sorry to hear that you had such bad luck. I think Mikey may be on to something, better get the oil pipes check to see if they are clean and clear.

I almost bought a TDV8 until I found out one of the turbos failed and it was being replaced. That is when I remembered that sometimes there are turbo issues with forum cars. For me it was the main reason to then go for the SC.

Anyway, I hope that you won't have any more issues whatsoever  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I spoke with the mechanic, he said there was a plentiful supply of oil.

One other thing that confuses me - if the turbo was wearing out before the failure, that would suggest performance would be reduced and once a new turbo is fitted I would expect to experience better economy and a livelier motor - this is not the case... it feels the same and if anything, slightly worse economy.

Have considered changing to something else - but nothing appeals to me, 5.0 SC is an option, but still too expensive for me.
