Cleaning electrical connectors - any tips?

Hi all.
Got to do the replacement rear wiper motor thing this weekend, but I have noticed that the metal prongs on the inside of the harness electrical connector have gone green and need a good clean. As they look delicate and not easy to get at does anybody have any tips on the best way to do it short of replacing the connector (if that is possible). I have tried electrical contact cleaner without much result. QUID FACIUM TIBI
