Recent trip to Normandy, France

Just got back last week from a week in Normandy. Went Portsmouth to Caen then Honfleur, just pottered around north of Le Havre, then followed the Seine across to Rouen and down to Pont Audemer - just under 1,000 miles in total. Stayed in Chateau a couple of times. Got to be done. Anyone wants details on the ones in the pics, let me know; they are amazing. (c.€120-200 for B&B for 2!)

Car performed faultlessly (probably 'cos I took out extra european insurance for the week at £40!!) and got 22 MPG on petrol (more on LPG Mr. Green )

Notice the precision shut line of the tailgate Other than the great wall of China I am told Range Rover shut lines are the other thing they can see from space Whistle
Nice photos BTW Mine was a blue one! Smile

Nice pics - gonna take the family to France next year - I shall no doubt have to take the shortest ferry crossing possible or fly my wife out separately (probably freight is cheapest option) as she gets sea sick in the bath.

Always good to hear of other peoples routes and experiences. Thanks for sharing. Howard

@ Stan - yes, I always managed to get a space to park right in front. I think the Gun catalogue and Italian Newspaper helped!! (an old trick I learned from my time in Naples

@Andy 3681. Rolling with laughter Bow down what good eyes you have! but actually the boot was opened remotely as I was just about to put a suitcase in and took the photo beforehand! Good spot tho!!

@Smutt, yes my g/f was also a bit icky on the 5 hr crossing from Portsmouth but we came back via Calais P&O (1'30") which was fine and had a nice meal in the "private" dining room. Look out for the "day trip" special offers. I have known some people book one, then go over and not come back for a while Whistle then buy another from the French side! Mr. Green all for £30 each way!!

@mr Tee - no, did those a while back on a regimental Battlefield tour (when I met the renowned destroyer of British Tanks, 84-yr old (Now deceased) Lt Col Hans Von Luck of Panzergruppe Von Luck.

She's still looking good! I miss having paintwork that tidy - I'm contemplating a respray for mine, if she can behave herself and stay out of the garage for more than a week!

@Dan 1984.

Oh no Dan, I was looking fwd to meeting up and having a kushti! Hope it sorts itself out. Unfortunately some Scrote keyed the back lower tailgate panel a month ago so will be having her touched up and then detailed all over. Then you can come and see her in all her glory.

BTW, had a massive surprise in Deauville ..... saw an absolutely identical car to mine, right down to the light guards and roof rails but with huge twin exhaust pipes. random!!

gotta say, with 178,000 on the clock, I am now looking forward to getting to 200k! anyone out there achieved that yet?

Smutt, my previous RR, a May 2002 TD6 is still going strong at 123,000 with original gearbox and everything working (i never had to spend a penny on her except for servicing/tyres etc.)
