The Polo had far better fuel consumption, but had a much smaller tank.

Why do motoring journalists focus on how far you can go on a tank rathar than the actual mpg?

Edit - Polo did 80mpg, the Jag 53mpg. I would still much prefer the Jag.

I often get better than "official" mileage with my ffrr. You certainly don't hear that from hybrid owners.

I also remember an episode of TG where they drove a BMW around the TG Test Track at motorway speeds and followed with a Toyota Prius. The mpg figures they got from the test showed that the Prius was using quite a bit more fuel than the BMW. Just goes to show that so called 'eco-boxes' are a waste of money and resources, and should be taxed at the same level as our big 'gas guzzlers'!
