Had the battery connected to the charger overnight and battery was fully and deeply charged. Had the FBH running twice for half an hour (it takes initailly 22A and after 5 minutes constantly another 17A). After that cycle I had still 12.35V in the battery.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you about a BMS. I am surprised that one of the more knowledgable members have not come back to you as yet.

Yes, IPHS this is a silly configuration that each time it wakes up it takes some 20 minutes and consuming 7A .

I'm not an expert on this but I think BMWs of that vintage have a battery management system that needs a reset when you replace a battery (the E65 7 series has this). If you don't reset it then the car doesn't know it has a new battery and treats the new one like the old one and can cause problems. I'm not sure it has an effect so quickly though.

i had a td6 and during my ownership i had two batterys and neither time was anything reset.. ... - .- -.
