Decisions and Questions

My 2nd post after a week of reading here and scouring the various cars for sale out there.

I've switched from FF to RRS and back to FF during the week. And from diesel to petrol and back to diesel again.

So it looks like it will be a Range Rover 3.6 diesel, or 4.4 if budget allows. Test driving a few tomorrow in Perth.

One thing I have noticed from looking at a lot of pictures is the lack of roof rails. Are these present and the cross-bars easily fitted? I remember on the D3 it was not a trivial task if they weren't specified from new. I need somewhere to put a couple of bikes and a roof box when we go touring.

I enquired and from Land Rover it was about £1100 for roof bars to be fitted as they (I believe) are then similar to the Discovery where you can move it up and down the car and not a fixed position. I think Thule do a system for a lot less that can be fitted or removed. If you find a car with a tow bar then you could consider getting a tow bar mounted bike rack. I have had one for the last few years and it has been very good.

Thanks for that. I still have my Pendle bike rack from the D3, which attaches to a tow bar.

The sports bars come up sometimes they fit on where the front and centre little flaps are on the roof trim are and are a bit less permanent, ok for bikes etc Mine was a blue one! Smile

Australia 2008 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Rimini Red

I bought a set of those Chinese roof rail copies , avoid at all cost they are awful .
Problems include , the end caps are a very week design so when you pop the covers off to move or remove the bars the end caps snap off and the bars them selves don't adjust enough to move up and down the track leaving them stuck at either end of the rails , the locking system of the cross bars is a different profile to the rails track so when you try to take them off they jam hence snapping off the end caps .
All in all absolute rubbish , I believe Powerfull used to sell a direct copy of the Land Rover system but if it is now like this cheapened version avoid . Oh and if you do fit them and then regret it you will have six nice holes in your roof where you had to cut the little door off Big Cry

The best system if you are serious about a roof rack is http://www.rhinorack.co.uk/Vehicle_LAND%20..._4101.aspx

Nothing else is made specifically for the L322 and the quality is way ahead of the rest . 2008 MY Supercharged
