There is usualy a slight increase in economy, but because you use the extra power it actually ends up the same. Unless you drive it like a loon using the extra power a lot... then the economy will probably go down. |

My TD6 remap from JE made almost no difference to the fuel economy overall but I WAS using the increased power and torque and that was WELL worth it. It totally made the car completely different and nice to drive. Discovery 4 HSE

I talked to the dealer about re-mapping and he said it can burn something in the front of the car out? |

I have considered it but the stock TDV8 is so smooth and pwerful out of the box that it's not been a priority for this one.

There are RRS TDv8 owners over on RRSport who have chipped their cars - I know one who did it to try to get his fuel economy up from high teens into the 20's but he found it didn't work too well (this was a plug in unit and not a remap) - there are several guys there who have opted for the BAS (they are forum sponsors over on RRSport) remap which is done by down load direct into the ECU (you buy a file bespoke for your car so you can re-load it in the evnt of the ECU being wiped) These guys all report both increased performance and better fuel economy. TBH I never felt the need to fiddle with the tuning of my TDV8, OK so I don't try to be a racing driver all the time but also my RRS returned 26-28mpg in day to day driving (I don't commute so the car rarely did town/city stop start motoring) and easily got 32mpg on longer trips. I think the worst fuel consumption I ever saw on mine was 20.9mpg on the trip computer after a lot of fast motoring up the M40 from Park Royal to Gaydon with a bunch of RRS's. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |
