Self Healing EAS?

Hi guys

Sorry for quick questions, have searched, but maybe quicker for me to ask.
Have had the HDC Inactive message appear a few times first thing of a morning. (Not regular but maybe once a week), car always starts and drives fine so put it down to batt on way out.

Yesterday while driving home i got no "boing noise" but Air Suspension Inactive message up (headlights, heater, radio etc on). I immediately locked the car in normal ride height and drove home. Car sitting and drives fine. Turned car was off and restarted and no message? Car goes up and down fine. Run around the block and all seems ok.

Went home and had a beer while i pondered!! Big Cry I then stupidly returned to the car!!!

I was sure there was a menu somewhere that would show the last faults. Pressing and playing i went into a "Check Control Ok" function. I may have "inadvertably" played with something and changed something from (i think it was "on") and i changed it to a number! Rolling Eyes Not too sure what it was or what it could do! but hey we will see!!

After realising my error, i quickly left the car , locked it and am awaiting a phone call this morning from the other half when attempts to go to work!!! Whistle

Jokes aside the car started and drove with no error messages after..
Should i be now waiting for the issues to start, or has it been known for an EAS message to clear itself?
Off to France next week, and not sure wether to chance it or take something else.

Many Thanks

If the battery is on the way out (or the alternator) then that could be the first indication (low voltage is causing it). But if your voltage is fine and stable then it could be something else although the HDC and suspension are not interlinked like ABS and HDC for example. This still points towards voltage related issues.

Have you check all the main cables (battery clamps/ground) to be tight and clean (no corrossion) ? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Hi

Thanks for reply, To be honest i havent checked anything. The HDC light was very occasional and only first thing after the car had sat a day so it was never really an issue and i just put it down to needing a batt soon.

Its only the fact that the EAS warning has come up that i panicked. When it then went out after turning off and on, i wondered if low batt could cause that. It was late night so had the heaters, lights, seats radio etc on.

Will have a play when i get home..
I havent had a phone call yet to say "sell it!!" so im guessing it started and drove with no message today!! Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Surprised that with the fault message the ECU didn't automatically lock out your suspension (at normal height) for you. This is the failsafe so you can continue to drive around. Odd though, rare indeed that they clear themselves.

You will need a diagnostic tool to see what the fault was.

However, I am jealous, oh for a self healing EAS here Wink .
