VW wouldn't start over the weekend.

VW assist attend and declare the battery is in need of replacement but not covered under warranty.

VW dealership sends a driver with a courtesy car within the hour and recover the stricken car.

Phone call yesterday from VW Service Dept to say that all they can find wrong is a defective battery. They inform me that they have also done a health check on the car and noted that the front tyres are below 3mm tread. They also found that a diagnostic check revealed a defective switch (the switch will be replaced under warranty).

As the car was bought less than 6 months ago and less than 2000 miles has been travelled, they don't think it's acceptable that the battery has failed or that the tyre tread is so low and so they are replacing the battery and are fitting 2 new front tyres free of charge.
