Well I did have a naive expectation they knew what they were doing and they were able to "perform" the job in time for my departure. Unfortunately my normal Independent did not.

What - they put the pad on the wrong way round so the metal rather than the pad was against the disc?????? |

No that I would have noticed. The pad retaining clips that are fitted in the caliper bracket were reverse mounted so that the pads were incorrectly situated against the disc. |

Maybe I'm being naive, but do garages not have a second pair of eyes, checking over something as fundamental as brakes?

Hmmm... that could be why if I brake a little suddenly there is a sort of "Clunk" comes from what sounds like the back brakes. Better get this checked out me thinks! Will have a look in the Wiki to see if i can find details of the pad retainers etc. |

Thanks we did and we are actually moving there so there will be atleast two forum members in Switzerland. I have of course taken a photo of the faulty brake installation which I will post. Atleast then people can see how it should NOT be done. |

Indeed I have no problem with an apprentice doing the job but then an experienced technician must 4-eyes check it. |
