The oldies are really holding value these days. I have no idea why as whilst they are nice, you are still riding along on a 1950's car that's uncomfortable at best. Serious collectors, lotto winners or those with more money than sense need apply Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

"Land Rover Defender 2.3 LAND ROVER SERIES IIA"

Well make your ******* mind up - is it a Defender or an SIIA?*

And if it's a 2.3 then that's either a LOT of over-boring, or an ancient Vauxhall engine has been dropped in.

It's one thing valuing these so high, it's quite another for the seller to not have a clue what they're actually trying to shift. Doesn't exactly fill a potential buyer (who, for one of these, probably DOES know what they're talking about) with confidence.

* Here's a clue: it's not a Defender!

I guess if you're real stupid you could call a 2 1/4 a 2.3 - rounding up at its best eh Big Cry

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I have to say, my father had an engine reconditioning business during the '80s and at no point did anyone refer to the "two & a quarter" as a 2.3.

I wonder if decimalisation hadn't hit up here during that time? Laughing

Au contraire - I am seven years older than that Landie and the 2.25s have always been known as "two and a quarters". Never commonly known as the 2.3.

It certainly wasn't a defender though - unless you can backdate names?

Wifekins had a tour of gayden last week (using the facility for business and this was tagged on) and the guide announced to her group that HUE was one of the first Defenders Banging Head

She told me with such glee thinking it would interest me - should have seen her face when I pointed out it was no more a defender than a Model T was a Mondeo Rolling with laughter
