United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Zermatt Silver

Stratstone Aylesbury told me £550 earlier this year.

The other factor for me is the time. My local main agent is nowhere near where I live or work.

There's one LR MD just opposite where I work who used to have a great reputation, but their once shining halo appears to have tarnished heavily of late, so I won't use them.

For information, the best price on the IID tool I've found is from Dan at Duckworth's. Thanks to Ryan for the tip. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

Yep, MD prices seemed silly, at anything over £100 my car was going to an Indy for them to turn off the TPMS and I'd have replaced with rubber valves 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

A check of the LR UK website approved used vehicle locator currently shows at least 11 pre 2010 facelift L322 all for sale at under £30k. It would be interesting to know if any of their TPMS valves have ever been changed and/ or have been checked as part of the approved used PSI.

Don't know if the 2010MY onward TPMS valves can be afflicted with this or whether by then the zinc coated ones had been thought of but there are a fair few 2010MY on the website at under £30k and there are plenty listed for over £30k.

I had one of my TPMS valves fall apart while checking the tyre pressures.

The prospect of one (or more) valves falling apart on the motorway forced me to replace all 5 of mine with normal rubber valves.

£60 for the peace of mind was worth t.

True. But remember that LR's failures are material related. The latest ones are, supposedly, far better.

And with quantity driving prices down, the cost shouldn't be too much to bear.

I've booked a mobile fitter to sort the SC's valves at home. Don't feel the risk of driving her aywhere is worth it.

For anyone silly enough (like I was Embarassed ) to have not replaced their TPMS valves, simple message. DO IT NOW!!!!!! Si. <This is my name.

In fairness to LR, is it not the case that the general info on the forum, reference the L322 TPMS valve failures, appears to be kicking in with vehicles over 5 years old and upwards of 50k miles, hence out of the main 3 year warranty and giving rise to that phrase 'wear and tear', particularly due to the fact that they are very much - dust caps or not - exposed to the elements?

However, my own view would also be that if someone pays a premium and buys an approved used LR from a franchised LR main dealer and such defect was present within 6 months from the date of sale, they should be replaced.

Pld118...the phrase 'not fit for purpose' springs to mind....such a safety critical part should had been designed to deal with the normal conditions it is expected to operate in...I believe that the new ones have been redesigned to prevent this deterioration?.. If so, then that points to a design error with the initail product, thus they should have been recalled IMHO...rant over GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

Don't disagree with you at all paulmoran.

I was certainly told that they fitted the new style 'zinc coated valves' to ours and that therefore it wouldn't happen again. Time will tell!

My last post was a question not my stated view and to reiterate my post of yesterday:
"A worrying potential safety concern though and perhaps worth reporting to both LR UK and to the selling dealerships of afflicted vehicles as it raises the question as to whether or not these things are actually being checked during Approved Used Pre Sale Inspections?"

Perhaps it might be interesting to start a "Have your TPMS valves failed" thread and people could post yes or no along with the vehicle age, mileage, failure date/ mileage if applicable and L322 variant if the car.

Someone could then weigh up if there was an evidenced argument to take to LR, of maybe it's too late for some vehicles now due to the L322 being obsolete?

Thumbs Up
