Anyone tried the tc ek connected through the 12v socket rather than directly connected to the battery, one in the boot to be exact?

The XS0.8 charges sizes 1.2-32Ah (maintenance charges
1.2-100Ah). The MXS3.6 charges sizes 7-75Ah (maintenance charges 7-120Ah).
I think if you want to look after a charged 90Ah battery then you would be
better off with the MXS3.6 charger.

I don`t know if anyone is worried about AGM battery recondition (which according to vendor differs from normal battery recond, and from AGM charging as well).
But according to user manuals of CTEK MXS 5.0, 7.0 & 10.0 only the 5.0 is offering this slightly modified program of AGM reconditioning. Then I called the local rep and he confirmed that the rest does not have this feature yet.
I don`t know if this observation is right, or representative was fully in picture, but I would be interested if anyone else noticed this.
Attached is the CTEK 5.0 charging program sheet showing AGM RECOND what all the others miss.

J evro, your man is right. If all you ever want to do is maintain your battery, the 3.8 will be fine. It's a 3.8 on ctek webpage. If he has a 3.6 is it an older model ? Or a typo....

You'll be giving him another ring though if your battery goes flat, as it won't be able to recharge it.

The demands are different in each application, so you will get away with a smaller unit till the going gets tough.

My TD6 has a 110 amp battery, so the 5 will just about charge it. So I got the 7 to be safe, with the added benefit it will charge the battery faster.

Not sure about the AGM recond bit....... Don't have one of those batteries....

I'm sure my battery is 95ah? , I just want it hooked up out on the drive to trickle charge it if necessary really as I hear they're prone to flattening if left for long spells which mine probably will be,

I think it's some later gel type arrangement. Don't know much after that myself.

I spoke to the supplier of mine as I had a query as the cold setting on mine has agm on it. He said the cold setting uses the agm profile at the start.

To be honest, I'd get the unit that car charge your battery if flat, that way you've covered all bases. If your battery is 95 amp then the 5 will be fine.

If you accept you may struggle to recharge it, then indeed the 3 will do it.

No problem, it will charge it faster. If you compare a 5 amp to a 7, the 7 should be 40 % faster on paper. Though won't get that much increase in the real world. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
