C’mon guys - it’s only a gearbox Very Happy

Steve, we clearly need a bit of a shopping list once you have everything apart. It may be helpful to identify any required parts using JPAT’s numbering system on the diagrams in their catalogue:
http://www.jpat.co.uk/94%20ZF%206%206HP26%...d%204D.pdf

A ‘seal & gasket’ overhaul kit is available for the 6HP26X (ZF part number 1068 298 030).

If you strip and rebuild the valve block you’ll also need a new separator plate.

I’m just concerned that if you add up the cost of the parts, the overhaul kit, maybe a re-manufactured TC, the fluid and a filter/sump it might be more economical to buy a complete second-hand unit ??? (though of course you would have no guarantee of its condition. At least you know what’s wrong with yours!)

Actually - having just said we know what’s wrong with yours - as we don’t know the root cause of your failure there’s clearly a risk in just rebuilding your transmission and sticking it back in the vehicle i.e. the failure could have been related to an electronic/hydraulic control issue rather than just a mechanical failure (through wear/fatigue) and this could be carried across into your rebuilt unit. I guess you just have to decide based on risk vs. the amount you want to spend.

Hi phil I'm still determined to repair my box I've totally stripped it now and all damage seems to be just
Friction plates in clutch b and outer sun gear then overdrive sun gear clutch e friction plates and steel plates
Do you have a spare clutch e assembly ?
Thanks again for the part numbers they'll be a great help Smile
I've pinched one of your photos cos looks better than the one I took lol

I strip all my transmission down completely so that I can clean & check all of the components, so they’re all stored separately rather than as assemblies, I’m afraid.

However, it’s easy for me to put together the sets of parts you need e.g. for the E-clutch :

but to assemble them I would have to re-use old seals, which obviously isn’t ideal. Are you intending to get the overhaul kit with all the seals in it? If so, are you disassembling all of the clutch pistons?

Yes phil i have also stripped mine down completely had to make a tool to remove the pistons and I have ordered a rebuild kit aswell as a replacement plate for the valve block I've found someone to also test and rebuild the tc also
I've decided to stick with my box as I would still do the filter and oil on a replacement and most of the boxes I've seen come with a 4 bolt tc not a 3bolt like mine
If you have all the pieces I need your a star Smile
Best think I could do is bring what I believe to be damaged and go from there..
Just want to say thanks for your help and time couldn't have done it without you
I'm heading up North Friday and it would be a pleasure to meet you and collect what I need if this is convienient for you Steve
