Do 265/50/20 Tyres Affect the RR Warranty?

I want to fit some winter tyres to a 2012 Westminster but the tyres I want aren't available in the 255/50/20 size. I've calibrated the speedometer and it reads - 2.4 mph at 70 mph with the tyres half worn down. The 265/50/20 increase the speed at 70 mph by + 0.9 mph
making the speedometer more accurate ( -1.5 at 70 mph with half worn tyres) and increasing the sidewall size by 5mm so they will wear down to the diameter of the originals anyway.

I have thought about changing to 19" rims where there is a lot more tyre choice, but there seems to be no choice of rims on the RR accessories web site. I don't want to fit none RR rims.

I want to fit Nokian WR SUV 3. As I've been using them on my XC90 and they've been good. Of the last 8 Pirelli's on my Volvo V70, 5 have developed side wall fault, long before they wore out.

What's the opinion about any issues that could arise from using a tyre that's not on the very limited approved tyre list in respect of the warranty or anything else for that matter.

Thanks.

Roy

There are some Vredesteins available in that size and they come very recommended. I have a set, although not that size.

Also, here's a set of genuine 19's for sale.

Well done on getting a set of winters though - good idea! Thumbs Up

Thanks.

I have used 2 sets of Vreds on my XC90 and they are very good. About 4 times the mileage of the OE tyres and plenty of grip off road. It's just that the Nokians wore even better and in the wet have a lot better grip according to the new EU tests. Haven't tried them in mud though as I have them on road cars.

I am looking for a reason to fit tyres with a bigger side wall to tell the truth, as I just find it hard to love big rims. I did see a bit where RR recommended fitting 175/45/20 for winter tyres but I cannot find it on the official LR web site any more. It was in a box titled Winter Driving in one of the documents but it seems to have disappeared.

All the best.

Roy

If you're an appreciator of sidewall - this is the thread for you!

Those rims are not recommended for the diesel on the LR web site, only these ones below. But I prefer the pattern of my existing ones I think they are referred to as 111's

Yes I looked at that last night. Cool I'm worried about the RR warranty though with even a slight change. Just wondered what others thought LR would think.
