29.2 MPG TDV8

Had to go to Norfolk this weekend for a family thing and over 600 miles (brimmed tank before leaving & again today with 30miles left on gauge) which works out to 29.2mpg... Drove up across country (Cirencester - Oxford - Aylesbury To M25, M11 etc etc) and returned "the quickest way" (down to M11 - M25 - M4 - home) was in no real hurry, but was certainly NOT driving with economy in mind (door to door 3 1/2hrs home without stopping) so, how does that compare with other forum members? Mine is an 07MY TDV8 running on 275/40/22 Continentals (for those of you that care! Whistle )

I was really quite amazed when i worked it out today...

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

Did Surrey -> Worcester -> Middlesbrough -> Highlands and then in reverse one weekend. The Worcester <-> Middlesbrough portions were towing a Series III behind the RR (that and trailer weighed in at around the 2.5 tonne mark). The rest wasn't particularly eco-friendly as was dealing with the M25 on a Friday afternoon and then traffic until Middlesbrough. The Scotland bit was not enthusiastic but not economically minded (dog on the back seat).

Averaged 26mpg that trip.

Last weekend went to my parents in West Wales and back sat at slightly faster than I should and was at an indicated 28 when I got back. I've cruised along at 70 before in no particular rush but was trying to maintain a smoother driving style and got up to an indicated 35mpg and then came to a complete stop for 45 minutes on the M4 Evil or Very Mad. Think I did get a photo somewhere - one perk of coming to a stop.

I think it does read about 1mpg higher than doing the calculations manually but only remembered that once. It indicates better than the 300Tdi managed so I'm happy.
