Apparently Spain has the worst Air Traffic Control. It looks almost like a repeat of the Tenerife 747s crashing in 1977 - thankfully without the crash

Maybe the UK needs to send Basil Fawlty there to yell at them until something is fixed. Manuel!!! Mr. Green

The explanation of the aborted landing being 'standard procedure' is really bending the truth to breaking point. Yes, as a safety precaution, room is ALWAYS left to allow a pilot to abort a landing for any reason. A swift gust of wind or a poor runway line-up being possible reasons. However, aborting because an airplane is crossing the runway is NOT a standard excuse. I've had that, but at an uncontrolled airport where you're approaching at 55 kts, can stop in 300' if you have to is a BIG difference to what these professional pilots have to do. Speed and mass are not on their side.
