Perhaps the biggest and most significant news is that the sixth-generation Mustang gains a new rear suspension setup, which finally sees the back of the traditional live axle. In its place will be a thoroughly more up-to-date ‘integral-link’ independent suspension setup.

The new car will feature a range of engines, starting with a 304bhp 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine replacing the old V6, and the all-important 5.0-litre V8 model topping the range (ahead of any hotter Shelby versions) with 420bhp. The 307bhp V6 engine will however remain to be offered in the US in the cheapest and most basic models. In traditional muscle car style, all engines drive the rear wheels

There's not many new cars I like these days, but that's one of them. Thumbs Up

Interestingly, Dodge have just released a factory-standard 707bhp version of the Challenger. That'll kick Mustang sales, especially as they've just cut their prices to be more 'Mustang friendly'. Si. <This is my name.

I agree that Ford FINALLY releasing a UK-spec Mustang is a highly significant event, and long overdue....

but.... isn't part of the appeal of having a US muscle car in LHD? Would RHD make it somehow more sanitised?

I don't know. For me, there's a certain undefined appeal of driving a LHD car over here. It adds to the sense that it's from elsewhere.

I'm not knocking Ford one bit here. But a Mustang is special and each time I see a converted RHD model I tend to wince a little and wonder what got lost along the way.

Then again, I'd order one in a heartbeat if I had the funds. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

In reality if they are sold RHD in the UK the re-saleability will increase greatly and thats what counts as LHD Mustangs take aggggggeeeessss to sell.
