LPG Issues - EMER Kit

Hi,

Some background:

on MY04 v8 4.4 L322 - noticed I had a wire going back to the LPG from diagnostics port and apparently it's a way for the LPG (EMER) ECU to constantly adjust fuel trims. Had to disconnect this due to it hijacking my ODB2 port and nothing else working.

Somebody has either removed my CEL or it's gone duff.

Hilton Autogas have confirmed that my fuel trims are hitting the buffers (29/30) on LPG and my install would fail as the valve is inside the car and the tank is not held down properly.

QUestions .....

Is anybody familiar with EMER?
Hilton have said it's easier to start again rather than tinker with a system they have no familiarity with
Can they salvage/make good my current install such that it can be added to the register?

Thanks guys!!

loads of 4.4's have been lpg'd successfully without any ufix OBD bodge needing fitted.

the tank I assume is in the wheel well , it can easily be fixed into position, in point of fact it really can't move anywhere can it ? (whoever you took it to may well be drumming up business)

the same goes for the relief valve , it can easily be piped to vent exterior to the car , if it isn't.

I'd say get a second opinion .

if your trims are going so high as to bring in lean codes , it may well be that it just needs a remap/tuning. did who you took it to attempt or suggest this?

do you know if the injectors/reducer are sized correct for the engine?

- someone at lpgforum will sort it for you at minimum cost to you

cheers dingg1

The tank is actually secured in using a seatbelt type device!!

I've posted on the lpgforum and there's somebody in Kidde' way that installs EMER so hopefully he will be somewhat of an expert!

I don't think Hilton were 'drumming up business' as they didn't appear to need it! It took me the best part of a week or two to get seen by them and they didn't charge me anything for an hour of chatting and diagnostics.

They did say they've had issues trying to talk to EMER ECU's in the past so all they did was check fuel trims via ODB2 and give me some advice.

Very hesitant in shelling out for a fresh install so hopefully Independent Autogas can sort it ! Smile

They will have fixed that wire to cut power to the vehicle ECU so that it has to relearn at every start up, it's a bodge for poorly set up systems, someone who knows what their doing should be able to sort it for you...

That's if, as above, you have a matched system to your engine.... Pete

Cheers mate Smile

Just had a PM from the EMER guy on LPGFOrums and will be dropping in this week. He says he's done a lot of L322's on EMER and can sort it all out Smile At the very least it won't be another £1.5-2k!!

I thought I was saving cash by buying my Range Rover with it already done :-/

Theres an LPG garage in Birmingham mate if you get stuck. They are very good. HLK gaspower B74DX. I used to use them when I worked on gas powered lift trucks and they always had luxury cars in there being converted.
