sounds normal..optimum mpg is around a constant 56mph i think. ... - .- -.

Ouch! That's pretty poor, especially in a diesel. It's to be expected though. Stop / Start traffic really knocks fuel consumption and adds enormous wear and tear versus cruising.

Wow thats one of the lowest diesel averages I have heard of. But anything is possible if you are sitting in traffic a lot. Still at-least your sitting in a nice place. |

I did think it was right as the "urban" MPG quoted is 19 and I doubt "urban" is an average MPH of 12, I believe it's more like an average of 19 MPH.

Diesels are much worse than patrols for fuel economy in constant stop/start traffic - you might not see much difference from a SC (another potential member of the 5.0 club?)

Also, much fuel is lost whilst changing gear - have a go at using it in manual on your commute and see if it changes ?

Thanks all and yes on a run I get 30 MPG so it's just crappy city driving |
