Have I Done the Right Thing??

I have just put a deposit on a 2003 4.4V8 with 139000 on the clock, FLRSH. I am having it inspected over the next few days by an independent inspector, then if all is o.k. its mine!!

I am a bit nervous, I have dome loads of research, but you hear such horror stories, I hope I am doing the right thing.

Here is a pic of it

My Motto: If you are going to have one, have a BIG one!

An independent inspection is a wise move.
People forget they were £60k+ cars when new and have a corresponding running cost and expense to fix when broken although there are far worse cars out there for that.

Check for bills for gearbox maintenance or replacement as that is probably the biggest cost, if it's been replaced that's a bonus.
Listen for rattles or tapping from the engine too as another big bill would be replacing timing chain guides.
Apart from that it's just the general wear and tear items to watch out for but that includes suspension air bags.

They are great motors though, superb off and on road. I've had mine ('02 4.4 like yours) for about 3 years and wish I'd bought one sooner!

The inspection should ease your mind, ok they aren't the cheapest cars to run but what luxury car is? and what other luxury 4x4 is just so "incredibly good looking" to quote Zoolander. Not to mention a joy to own and drive (and wash in the case of us black full fat owners) Very Happy 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts

We have had our 2002 4.4 V8 for almost 2 months now and are loving driving it. My
Only regret is I didn't pay a bit more and get a 4.2 S/C.

I bought privately and got a full service done straight after buying to give me piece of mind so in your case the inspection will give you that.

Agree the L322 is just so good looking.
