Autoglym Oven Cleaner

So recently I took advantage of a deal at Halfords of 3 for 2, and for the first time bought AG Clean Wheels spray on.

I wasn't expecting much.

I sprayed it on my front alloys, (thick black brake dust) and left for a few minutes.

When I hosed off I was amazed how much came off, almost all of it. Really impressed. The I washed as normal. Gleaming Cool

I noticed that the smell given off by the spray is the same noxious cough inducing fumes you get from Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner spray. Same ingredient? Discovery 4 HSE

Oven Cleaner Ingredients

Autoglym Clean Wheels

There is an acid in there somewhere for each of them formulated to give off an ammonia type gas.Ammonia is a well known cleaning agent: Ammonia

Chances are Mr Muscle may do the same job on your wheels, but may be best to try out Autoglym Clean Wheels on your oven first ! .

I use bleach and a toothbrush, and then wash off quick.

To be fair, I do it once when I first buy a car and then keep them clean by coating with AG sr polish and normal washing.

Interesting though. May have a go with oven cleaner next time...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Just take care when using corrosive chemicals, if your hands start feeling soapy, thats not detergent in the chemicals, thats the acid melting your hands! Wear gloves and eye protection if getting down and dirty with your wheels. .

Joe90's right... I protected everything (double pairs of disposable rubber gloves etc and a waterproof sheet to put on the grass/ if your alloys are face down on grass, you won't damage them if scrubbing and vigorously applying elbow grease but might do so on a concrete type surface).

But... I only wore old jeans. On my knees for hoors on wet grass cleaning the dishes with Mr Muscle, hosing it off, re applying it ... And via the water seeping through my wet jeans, I inadvertently let Mr Muscle go to work on my knees. Ouch! No lasting damage but skint, red, stinging knees for a couple of days... Wear waterproof trousers is my top tip! Thumbs Up

This got me thinking. My range cooker is black and chrome, so maybe an Autoglym detail is a possibility... Confused Very Happy Si. <This is my name.

@mjdronfield

"bleach" does not clean / remove dirt and soil, it just turns things "white" and kills bugs. You need a cleaning agent to remove dirt/soil etc. Your scrubbing action may have helped to remove the dirt, but the bleach won't help Thumbs Up .
