As I understand it, the fan you can hear is common to all of them. I was surprised to hear it the first time. I am amazed how many things seem to remain powered on for quite a while after turning the ignition off.

I'd get the AA back out as they clearly didn't do enough diagnosis in the first place..... |

FSR is one of the top culprits for this but as stated above... Call the AA out again |

thanks for the replies! I have un plugged the fsr but the fan I am talking about is still running, the vent by the footwell light Next to the big grommet you have to take out to release the undertray is where the noise is coming from. Should this still be running after the ignition has been off for 40 mins? should I go and get the battery and alternator tested If i could would you!!!! |

Mmmm 40 mins sounds a bit long to me. Suggest to download the workshop manual of the car (Wiki should have a link) and dive into that. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

The fan you hear takes 20 minutes to stop once the ignition key is removed and the vehicle allowed to go to sleep. If it takes longer than 20 minutes you need to investigate to find out why |

Had the AA man out again, started car and ran a few test but wasn't that confident with the car! he did find that the alternator is charging at 13.2 and when put under load ie lights heated f and r screens on with blower fan and the voltage dropped slowly but surley thus indicating an alternator problem and has told me to replace the alternator as its not working as it should and could be shorting when sat idle!! what do you think guys. If i could would you!!!! |

the alternator should be charging at around 14.5 'ish on normal idle..this isnt a lot different to you reading but it could make the reason ... - .- -.

you certainly should have more voltage out of the alternator than that. I suspect you diode pack on the alternator is failing. Is the ignition light glowing at all?

I had this same problem a few weeks back and had to pull the 2 fuses for the blower to get the fan to stop running, mine was down to a duff FSR and fan just came on when it felt like it, even with iginition off. I bought a cheap FSR off fleabay and it didnt work, last week I finally got a genuine land rover one (£45 inc vat), installed it and all is well again. |

I reckon it was about 11 hours, set the alarm going which completely flattened the battery, it was early doors one morning and I did hear the alarm but assumed it was construction equipment next door as they were getting major landscaping done so just ignored it - RR alarm sounds like a lorry reversing.......... Day before car had a good long run and had started fine etc. I got the battery checked out and it was replaced as said it was knacked.
