Advice sought: Best way to polish & best polishing machi

Advice sought on best way to polish paint work, and best polishing machine for a beginner.

I like the idea of polishing the car but not sure I have either the knowledge or equipment to undertake the task. I would like to remove swirls and polish the paintwork and would be willing to purchase the right equipment if it makes the job easier and better. So any advice gratefully appreciated.

Thumbs Up

There is plenty information on the Detailing World forum and often classes run on how to do it

+1 on the Das 6. I bought the pro version a couple of years ago and made good progress but its hard slog.

Can't go too far wrong with this kit

Thanks for all the useful tips/links, reading up on the DAS 6 Pro, seems a nice bit of kit and not as expensive as I thought.

another one here for DAS6 Pro from CYC.

I graduated to G-techniq P1 polish as I found it a lot easier. Used the Menzerna on relative's cars.

Polishing and applying C1 and C1.5 to a mahoosive silver Full Fat makes your eyes feel funny for a day or so!!

If you buy the DAS 6 practise on a relatives car first Very Happy
If you buy any expensive wax, use it. It's a waste if you only use it twice a year.

Last but not least, if you have a significant other you'd better start learning how to justify spending hours on your car. Travelling around in circles again.

Thanks again guys, definitely sounds like the DAS 6 Pro is the best route to go, especially for a novice.

I notice the DAS6 Pro comes in bundles as well as on its own. Is there any recommended bundle to go for or am I better off buying it on its own and getting wax and other compounds separately?

It would be better to get the significant other to do the work for you but since that will probably require a very cold day in hell, explain working on a car is better than a mistress on the side (cheaper as well).

Go with the good gear or find a place that will do it a good job. Just look at the cost of say, 4 times per year having it done by a good detailer versus time/cost of doing it yourself Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
