United Kingdom 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Spray paint issue

Feeling a bit bored and thought it would be a great idea to get some new side vents and colour code them - learn a bit of spray painting on the way, well seemed a good idea at the time. Duly bought some vents, range-rover paint/lacquer kit and some plastic primer. All was going thoroughly brilliantly until I thought "Not enough paint here. I know I'll nip down to Halfords and get a full can of base coat and lacquer". Oh dear, looked great and then at the final fence sprayed over the Halfords lacquer and left it to dry. Next day soft, day after still soft and lines appeared. Clearly not compatible. So, its sandpaper out time!

Question is can anyone reccomend a good brand of spray paint? Anyone had this issue before? Google is absolutely awash with different ideas. Oh and FWIW its zambesi silver that I'm after if that makes a difference.

Cheers
