Bonnet release cable issue

went to open the bonnet this evening and the cable snapped Mad . Thankfully it has snapped where it attaches to the release handle and I can see a few strands of cable to get the pliers onto.

Can't be Censored arsed to do it tonight but once I have the bonnet up I am going to fit some kind of emergency release cables (discreetly) in case it was ever to snap where I couldn't get to it.

Can't say I am enjoying Range Rover ownership at the moment Rolling Eyes

Oh the joys of owning a Rangie, just when you think it's ok it bites you in the arse...

Did it show any signs before letting go, get stiff etc?? Pete

No it was working fine. Didn't have to use any pressure to open the bonnet, it just snapped.

I will be making sure everything is well lubed when I replace it.

My old KIA Sorento is the same age as the RR and is still like a new car. No rust, everything works as it should and it never lets me down.

I never wonder if I am going to get home if I go out in the KIA, I check I have the details for recovery every time I go out in the RR. Go Figure Exclamation

British workmanship at its very best Rolling Eyes

Not too bad really. Just have some Vaseline on hand or grease to ease the rubber grommet in. Feed it they from inside the cabin and you should be ok. Make a note of the routing on the engine side to make sure it's all right when back together. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

You can significantly reduce the load on the cable by thoroughly lubricating the two bonnet catches, they are in a position where they are subject to a lot of "weather" and corrode quite badly.
Have a look over the top of the black slam panel, from the engine side, and apply a lot of oil and grease to them. Thumbs Up
