Halfrods tools

Asked the Mrs to pop in and exchange the 3quarter inch wratchet as its not working like it used to, had it many years and never abused.Well they are a life time guaranty ( so they say) and I have exchanged a half inch braker bar that I broke 2 years ago with no problems.

Well not this time, Big Cry Censored Its not guaranteed as it has moving parts Shocked Shocked there words
It dont say that in there blurb! Big Cry

Think I will try again at another store Sniggering

Any one else had issues with there tools? Imo they are good quality and have surved well in the 15 or so years. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I'm sure I read somewhere that "lifetime" equates to 10 years, but I could be wrong. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

They definitely won't change the ratchets, have tried on a number of occasions without success.
They do however sell ratchet repair kits for a few pounds which are excellent.
I've refurbished a few ratchets over the years, the 1/4in drives are hellish to do but a 3/4in should be easy.
All other tools are genuinely lifetime guarantee, I've taken things back after 20 years. Embarassed

Not refund Gaz, exchange !

The braker bar I broke was about 10 years old and they exchanged it with out a problem, thought they wouldnt though as it was looking fairly battered up, but they did.

Ndfi, I did not even think of looking to see if they do a repair kit for ratchets! I know a new one is only £20, Im not a cheap skate....honest Whistle
Im glad Im not the only one who takes things back Thumbs Up If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Yeah, the ratchets are excluded on the same basis as Snap-On do with theirs. It will pack up sooner or later simply because of what it is. Just buy a repair kit and you'll be fine. Thumbs Up

BTW. My Halfords 3/8" ratchet outlasted my 3/8" Snap-On one and the repair kit was a fraction of the cost.

Seems odd as I have had ratchet spanners replaced without problem, moving parts in those.
