4.4 TDV8 intermittent momentary power loss - what th...?

Can anybody point me in the direction of threads which discuss this?
I've noticed on several occasions my 2012 TDV8 suddenly loses power for a couple of seconds, eg when exiting a corner or taking off from the lights.
It's as though the gearbox suddenly gets all confused, the revs drop below 1,000 and then it picks up again all by itself.
When it happened the first time (I've only had the car a couple of months) I thought I must have been imagining it, or I'd backed off the throttle without realising it, but it's happened several times since.
It's been suggested to me that it might have something to do with a sticking exhaust gas recirculation valve.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated:-) 2012 L322 TDV8 Luxury

Experienced the same a couple of times - felt almost like the gearbox couldn't find the right gear for a split second when accelerating from low speed. Dealer reflashed software (to cure the ~70mph hesitancy), can't remember noticing it since.

Greg my 12MY does it aswell. I thought it was the legendary LR build quality and as it doesn't happen all the time I hadn't bother taking it back to the stealer. Let us know if you get it fixed.

Okay, I'll take mine to the dealer, they're only a mile away, I'll get them to run some error code checks and let you know how it goes. 2012 L322 TDV8 Luxury

Thanks Martin. I've had a read through that thread, seems most of the guys talking about it in that thread have had issues with regards to decelerating from high-ish freeway speeds whereas I've only noticed the issue while accelerating from fairly low speeds. But it does seem to be a similiar problem to do with the gearbox mapping, so will get it checked at the dealer this week. Will report back when they've run a laptop over it.

Thanks for the heads up. Smile 2012 L322 TDV8 Luxury

Well, had the service dept run some checks today. They say they ran all the diagnostic checks and foun no error codes anywhere. A good thing, I suppose, but doesn't answer the question as to the intermittent power loss. Still, they reinstalled the relevant software, so I guess it's a case of watch and wait.

Interestingl, it was due for its first service, for which I was quoted about $1,000. My regular idependent guy quoted 'about $300' for the same service. With the top quality synthetic oils. Mmmm, it's a toss-up. 2012 L322 TDV8 Luxury

Thats a difference!

Try a bit of haggling, cant hurt, the list of stuff they should do on a service is quite long and it maybe that the indy will just do the oil and filters. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

He's a Rangie specialist, used to service my previous one, he knows exactly what's specified for a first service and does the lot. Plus, he picks up my car from my office and delivers it back at the end of the day:) 2012 L322 TDV8 Luxury

Intermittent power loss

Greg, I now have same thing - for no more than 1 to 1.5 seconds, low revs, 'pauses' then takes off again; odd sound -whirring' accompanies it; wondering if it's turbo related. Will get Stealer to take a look.

EDIT - Found the answer in Search Embarassed
