Puddle on driver's door mat after car wash visit

I went through my local car wash today and was shocked to find a small puddle of water on the driver's rubber door mat afterwards. I didn't notice it forming while going through the wash, I only saw it on getting out to use the vacuum cleaner afterwards. The carpet underneath was dry. No dripping was visible but I think I felt a bit of damp along the join where the lower dash covering (below the steering wheel) meets the black covering further down above your shins. The puddle was just below and in front of the brake pedal, which was also dry.

I have had the car two years and must have been through this wash a dozen times with no problems. What makes me suspicious is, about a month ago I had my MOT and at the same time asked the dealer to check why the ignition lock sounded like it was having difficulty operating. For this, they removed the dash covering below the steering wheel. Could they have mucked something up to cause a leak?

We've had no rain recently here in Germany so I can't say if the same occurs during rain. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Blocked sun roof drains ? if so do not use an air line to clear them but use some strimmer cord and work from the bottom up Thumbs Up 2008 MY Supercharged

If they are blocked the water will , the drains run down the pillar trims and end up under the car . Sorry I can't tell you exactly where because I have never had to do it but a quick search will reveal all . 2008 MY Supercharged

The drains in the plastic wiper arm cover (at the base of the windscreen) are the usual culprit. They are easy to check, bottom left and right of the windscreen. Clean those out and the problem should be sorted 06MY 4.4 V8 Autobiography Cairns Blue with Navy & Parchment Interior

You mean this tube (centre)?

There seems to be a drain hole underneath the left wiper arm (from the seated driver's point of view) and it looks bunged up. The one on the right looks clear. I'll have a go at it tomorrow. Hard to believe it results in water coming inside Shocked 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Checked the wiper tray drainage holes and the left one, in the photo above, was completely blocked. The right one was clear. I hooked out the dried-in dirt and now water falls through the tube onto the ground on both sides. The next trip to the car wash will show if that stops the leak into the footwell... 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black

Went through the car wash last week and there was no leak into the driver's footwell. Looks like clearing the wiper drainage hole did the job Thumbs Up Thanks again. 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
