RSE Screens faulty

Afternoon all,

I have intermittent problems with the (factory) RSE screens.

Yesterday, started off with both working, stopped for lunch and on re-start left hand screen had failed (totally black, no power).

Visited in-laws (suspect some sort or curse) and now both screens are dead.

Sound all working properly (can hear DVD through headphones), and picture displayed properly on the front screen (stopped with handbrake on).

Seems to me my choices are a dodgy connection or the RSE unit on its way out.

Anyone know where the connectors are and how the cables run?

Obviously there are connectors on the module, but then is it a two one piece cables all the way into the front seats or is there an intermediate connector somewhere else?

Anyone got a spare RSE unit floating around I could troubleshoot with?

Any other thoughts?

David

Oh FFS.
Just got home, switched screens on to start troubleshooting, and now they are both working.
Grrrr

If you carefully remove the two 10mm nuts from the top of the RSE ECU holder you can slide it up enough to check the connections on the unit itself... Usual suspect is an unavailable lead that goes from under the seat (oblong connector) to behind the lower rear seat cover (map pocket) as it bends quite a lot and is fibre optic so easily damaged Rolling Eyes

Craig,

Thanks for the input.

Surprised and disappointed to hear there is a fibre optic cable running up the seat back.

Best info I have found so far comes from the DŁ RSE retrofit guide here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...0Guide.pdf

This make it look like the connections out of the RSE module to the headrests are two purely electrical connectors?

I "think" it is a power problem to the screens, not signal, as the screens are completely black, not no-picture-dark-grey, if that makes any sense!
